La Otra, First Feminist Bookstore in Beijing

As a cofounder and marketing director of La Otra, Beijing's first feminist bookstore, I embarked on a journey to establish a unique space dedicated to feminist education, advocacy, and empowerment in a challenging social environment. Driven by the belief that change often begins with dialogue, I organized impactful community events, from gender education programs for over 250 young children to seminars exploring the history of feminist movements in China. These events provided foundational knowledge for the next generation, inspiring them to question, reflect, and embrace gender equality.

My role extended to designing and launching products that embodied our message, such as the "Women's Script" tote bags and seals, which achieved viral popularity, selling over 1,000 units and symbolizing solidarity. I was also invited as a guest speaker for the release of The Book of Girl, where I shared insights on self-love and personal growth, strengthening La Otra’s community presence and resonance among young audiences.

Understanding that our bookstore faced both financial and spatial limitations, I initiated a livestream book sale, drawing 50,000 viewers from across the country. This initiative not only supported La Otra's mission but also broadened the accessibility of feminist literature, allowing us to reach and empower individuals in remote areas. Through La Otra, I strive to build an inclusive platform where voices advocating for gender equality can unite, ultimately fostering a resilient community of feminist allies.
